WHO WE ARE

In 1998, Kreamer Feed became the leading certified organic feed manufacturer in the United States well before grocery stores had their own aisles just for organic products.

Their organic brand, Nature’s Best Organic Feeds, offers organic, non-medicated, Non-GMO Project-Verified products in both bagged and bulk quantities to guarantee that each and every customer’s needs are met. Kreamer Feed goes above and beyond their competition, by having their grain regularly tested to not only certify the products organic but to ensure the USDA Organic requirements are surpassed exponentially. Formulated by nutrition experts, the premium line of natural farm feed prides itself on super quality and integrity, made by a family-owned and operated company in its 70th year.

A Legacy To Be Proud Of

George W. Robinson had a vision. He came home from World War II with nothing but the clothes on his back and apprenticed for a farmer before beginning the journey that has left a legacy in his name.

In 1947, after a two-year service in the military, George “Bill” ventured to Pennsylvania with his brother John Myers, where they rented a 24’24 building in the rural town of Kreamer for $12 per month. There, they established their business as a feed dealer called Robinson & Myers, a company whose largest asset at the time was a single 1937 Ford pick-up truck worth $240. The business expanded over the next few years and though George acquired sole ownership in 1949, he referred to a moment in 1950 as the “most important event in his career” – when he met his soon-to-be wife, Doris Sharadin. He explained that she wasn’t initially impressed with him (especially his square-dancing skills), and that he knew “Kreamer Feed would not be what it is today if it had not been for her dedication, help, and understanding throughout the years.”

Doris and George began their family in 1953 and all seven children earned their spending money by working at the feed mill or raising poultry. The financial worth of both his personal and business assets was just over $17,000 that year. In 1956, the company began their adventure in poultry contracting and today, works closely with their sister company BJE Poultry, a farm and poultry contracting business located steps from the doors of what is now “Kreamer Feed”. The beauty of the partnership between BJE Poultry and Kreamer Feed is that each of the businesses is the other’s largest customer.

By 1962, George had 11 full-time employees and two bulk delivery trucks suited for taking natural farm feed from Kreamer to farms nearby. The mill was at this time able to pellet their own feed, and the company added office and retail store spaces which was subsequently named “The Kreamer Feed Store.” By 1967, the bulk feed fleet had grown to three trucks and had sales of $2,304,549 from 22,190 tons delivered. Today, there is a complete milling and grain-receiving set up; the company is equipped to receive, manufacture, and deliver nstural farm feed in both bulk quantities and bags. Many additions and investments in the staff and equipment have enabled the company to serve the farmers and customers for over 70 years with premium products and exemplary customer service and quality.

All in the Family

Family businesses face unique challenges, but the legacy George and Doris have left behind is something the Robinsons are proud to continue successfully as a united front. The passion George and Doris had for both the business, agriculture industry, and especially the community has been passed on to each and every family member as they continue their efforts to positively impact their employees, families, customers, partners, and community. In 2005, they created The George and Doris Robinson Memorial Golf Tournament, an annual event that to date has raised over $200,000 for the local community.

What is Organic?

Organic feed is free of antibiotics, growth hormones, drugs, chemicals, pesticides, and animal by-products. National organic standards set out the methods, practices, and substances used in producing and handling crops, livestock and processed agricultural products. The United States Department of Agriculture requires that anyone who produces, processes, or handles organic agricultural products must be certified by a USDA-accredited certifier in order to sell, label or represent their products as organic and use the USDA organic seal. Nature’s Best Organic Feeds’ certifier is Pennsylvania Certified Organic (PCO), whose mission is to “ensure the integrity or organic products in the marketplace” and help people understand organic certification requirements. We are proud that our customers are becoming aware of the benefits of organic products, reporting in their animals increases in production, appetites, and improved eating behaviors after starting our feed. Kreamer Feed goes above and beyond their competition by having their grain regularly tested to not only certify the products organic but to ensure the USDA Organic requirements are surpassed exponentially.
