Supporting Those Who Served: The Dawson Family Story

At Kreamer Feed, creator of Nature’s Best Organic Feeds, we’ve always believed that what you feed your animals shows up in what you put on your table. That idea really came into focus during our recent partnership with Military Makeover on Lifetime Network, where we had the opportunity to support the Dawson family.

A Journey of Service & Resilience

Retired U.S. Army veteran Matthew Dawson enlisted at just 17. After serving in Iraq and Afghanistan (where he survived a life-altering grenade blast), Matthew returned home with a mission centered on health, family, and a sustainable future.

Building A Healthier Home

Part of the Dawsons’ journey toward self-sufficiency involved a new backyard poultry setup. Kreamer Feed President Jason Robinson also appears in the episode, as Kreamer Feed helped fund the family’s renovations and a shared chicken coop for the Dawson family and a nearby relative. The setup allows both households to share the work—and the eggs. Raising chickens provides the family with fresh, nutrient-dense eggs and a shared sense of responsibility. “Healthy eggs start with healthy birds, and healthy birds start with quality feed.”

A Legacy Rooted in Service

Supporting veterans isn’t just a project for us; it’s our heritage.

“Kreamer Feed has always believed that better inputs lead to better outcomes,” says Jason Robinson, Kreamer Feed President. “Supporting the Dawson family aligns with our mission and our history.”

That history is closely tied to military service. The company was founded in 1947 by Robinson’s grandfather George Robinson, a World War II veteran who helped fellow veterans transition into farming. Leadership later passed to George’s son Bill Robinson, a Marine Corps veteran, before it was passed to Jason, who leads the business today. Kreamer Feed continues that legacy by serving farmers, homesteaders, and families seeking high-quality nutrition for animals of all kinds.

By combining community support with practical solutions like backyard food production, Episode 3 highlights resilience, recovery, and the value of investing in both home and health. The episode aired on Thursday, April 9th 2026, and again on Friday, May 8th on both Lifetime® and the American Forces Network at 7:30 AM EST. After the episode’s air dates, the episode was made available on the Military Makeover website, their YouTube channel, and Kreamer Feed and Nature’s Best Organic Feeds websites.

Feed Families, Supporting Communities

Whether you’re raising a small backyard flock or managing a larger farm, we’re here to support the way you choose to feed your family.

The Dawson family’s story is a good reminder that it doesn’t take much to get started. A few hens, the right setup, and the right feed can go a long way toward building a more sustainable, dependable food source at home.
